Moving Right Along

I will admit that with much of what has been going on in the world, I have been very blessed. I have not only kept my job (I work at a grocery store), but actually got promoted and no one I personally know has passed away from Covid. There are times when I realize how lucky I am and that I shouldn't complain. Yet at the same time I admit I have still let how the world is today get to me and felt like these strange times we live in will never end and that normal will never come back (honestly I admit that I often go back and forth between these two ways of looking at things). Whenever I get like this I remind myself of various stories from the bible, such as the Israelites in the desert or Abraham and Sarah waiting for their child. Though they felt like too much time had passed and God would never keep his word, he did keep his word. Right now it seems like this has been going on for much too long and understandably (from a human perspective) feel like we are losing our hope at time. Yet God knows what he is doing through all of this and he has promised that there will come a day when he will wipe every tear from our face and “mourning and crying and pain will be no more” (Rev. 21:4). I am comforted knowing that God will somehow work this all out to his perfect will, and I feel that is something all of us should take comfort in. I know many of you have it tougher than me but I still know that God is there for you just as much as he is for me and that he will comfort you in the same way. So like Kermit and Fozzie let us keep moving right along.

Now for some happy news (which we all need right now). This is not happy news that will make today's situation all the sudden better but give us a little joy and fun into these strange times. ME-TV has added more cartoons to their schedule. Not only this but these cartoons are the old theatrical shorts. Unlike Boomerang or Cartoon Network (which run only a small variety of these short and all from the same era) you get a large variety of cartoons here. You get the famous color Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck cartoons from the 1950's and 60's that everyone know. However along with this you get plenty of cartoons that you would never see on Booomerang or Cartoon Network. I was happy to see some black and white Popeyes and Betty Boops as well as an MGM Happy Harmonies cartoon and a Barney Bear, when I watched on Saturday morning. Also included in the lineup is the great Tex Avery one shot cartoons from MGM. So many cartoon fans consider these to be some of the finest cartoons ever made, but they have strangely been pretty much absent from TV in recent years. These cartoons can be found on the channel at 7am Pacific for one hour every week day and three hours every Saturday. Though still not perfect this is a step in the right direction for cartoon lovers.

Since I did not make a New Years post for here is some late music for the holiday.

While I would be lying if I said I do not just want this world to return to normal right now, I also know that God is stronger than anything this world can offer and even with all this madness he has somehow got this under control and will work all things out to his perfect will and one day dry every tear from our eyes. We must not lose faith because the world tells us things are hopeless for we know with God nothing is ever without hope. So remain strong all my friends and keep your faith through all this. God bless you and as Roy Rogers used to say, "May the good Lord take a linkin' to ya." -Michael J. Ruhland
